Rocks and roots

Buckden-Arncliffe loop

Great loop ridden anti-clockwise. Bit of a pull up the climbs, especially the first one! The first part of the descent down Haw Fell is really technical. It looks like it will get grassy below but in fact there are lot of technical bits all the way to the bottom. The other descent over Moor End Fell has a fairly easy start but really gets hard after the bridleway splits. There's one steep, exposed rock garden, then it eases but is still technical, then in the woods it gets technical again. Even the last bit makes you think! Probably a ride for nice weather as there could be some boggy bits. We worried about parking so close to Dales honeypots on a sunny Saturday but actually we easy found parking in Starbottom next to the bridleway-road junction.

Rating: 3, "Good riding, worth travelling to".
