Rocks and roots

We did this ride from start to finish in the pouring rain so it's possible it should get a higher rating.

The trails are all around the Castlewellan Castlewellan Country Estate and it does feel like you're ridng round the gadens of a country house, except at the very top. We opted for the two black options on the descents (Dolly's Chute and the Great Escarpe) which had a few rock gardens on but weren't mental, even in the wet. It's fairly consistent right to the end, even when it feels like you should just be riding back to the car park.

The cafe felt a bit soulless (though it was a wet weekday). There's also a bike hire place where you cna also get hot drinks and hot showers.

Rating: 2, "Worth a ride if you are in the area".
